RWBY Assumptions

RWBY Wiki:

Watch it here:

I’m just a fan making random assumptions. If they’re spot-on, well hey, cool. If it’s a big miss… *shrugs* My favorite is Ruby because GUNSCYTHE!

— Some Spoilers Ahead. Watch the trailers and episodes 1 to 3 first. —

“Red Like Roses” (Ruby Rose’s image song)

~ Red like roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest.
White is cold and always yearning, burdened by a royal test.
Black the beast descends from shadows.
Yellow beauty burns gold. ~

  • Ruby fights in the memory of someone that she lost a long time ago.
  • Weiss is alienated from other people due to her responsibilities as the Schnee heiress.
  • Blake is part-Grim and was a former member of White Fang. *
  • Yang burns things. LOL! But seriously, she’s probably not related to Ruby by blood, rather they are bound as sisters by formality or circumstance.

*More on Blake:

White Fang was on the news (first episode) for causing trouble despite being a peaceful group before. Blake could have been in White Fang with Adam, and the group’s drastic changes made her decide to leave. She might be pursuing the antagonist who was shown on the first episode, the Red Dust (fire) user who fought Glynda. Like Blake, the Red Dust user has beast-like eyes and dark hair. Blake also seems to harbor ill feelings towards the Schnee company; in general, White Fang might be targetting Schnee due to their “inhuman” ways. The Schnee could be enslaving part-Grim beings for their Dust mines. Read the lyrics of “From Shadows” (Blake’s image song):

~ From shadows
We’ll descend upon the world
Take back what you stole
From shadows
We’ll reclaim our destiny
Set our future free
And we’ll rise ~

White Fang could be planning something big in retaliation for the discrimination and enslavement. Blake could have severed her ties with White Fang due to this, or is in Beacon Academy on a mission for White Fang.

Other assumptions:

“This Will Be the Day” (Opening theme)

~A story will be told
And victory is in a simple soul~

Dust is important to humanity’s survival, but humans may be becoming too dependent on it. “simple soul” may refer to the human factor which humans, ironically, have forgotten. Ruby and Blake seem to be unable to use Dust in the traditional way, as opposed to Weiss who uses it for spells and Yang who uses it to strengthen her attacks. Their (Ruby or Blake) “soul” could have a different effect on Dust, something that has not been seen or heard of so far. It may turn the tide in the war against Grim.
