Sea and Land Pet Shop – Shopwise Cubao

Update (July 02, 2015): Updated contact number.

Update (03/28/2012): Added contact number, some items and prices.

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with this shop. I am not the owner, co-owner, nor an employee. I am merely one of their customers. This is not an advertisement. They did not pay me to put this up and they probably will never know that I put them in my blog. I am writing this post so that other pet owners will be able to find a shop where they can buy pet supplies.

  • Prices and product list will be more specific once I’ve checked that shop again.
  • As a precaution, always check the expiration date of food and medicine before you purchase them.
  • Ask for a receipt. It is a small shop so there’s no hi-tech cash register, but it is registered and the salesperson will provide a BIR-compliant receipt  ^__^
  • Please keep in mind that some products tend to have fluctuating prices. There are items that have the note “locally packed and/or distributed by” which means that the local distributor has already computed the price depending on the local market and said price will not easily change. However, most exotic animals supplies are directly imported from international suppliers so the price will depend on the peso-to-dollar exchange rate. This is noticeable in all pet supplies shops/stores, not just Sea and Land Pet Shop.

Shop Name: Sea and Land Pet Shop

Address: Shopwise Arcade, Araneta Center, Socorro Cubao, Quezon City

Contact Number: (02) 376-32-69

Items in Stock: timothy and alfalfa hay, rabbit and guinea pig pellets, Meow Mix (kibbles for cats), vitamins for animals, etc.

Stuff that I noticed:

  • Meow Mix (different formulae of dry cat food) – regular bag (3.5 lbs) , 275 pesos
  • Hagen Rabbit Pellets – 2.27kg (5 lbs) bag for 480 pesos
  • Alfalfa Hay – I forgot the brand and price, sorry! My cavy does not like alfalfa hay so I didn’t check it.
  • LC-Vit Syrup – 185 pesos per bottle (unsure of bottle size)
  • Versele-Laga Cavia Crispy – small pack is 120 pesos, medium pack is 220 pesos

Stuff that I purchased:

  • Choppy Timothy Hay – 750g (26oz) for 420 pesos
  • Hagen Guinea Pig Pellets – 2.27kg (5 lbs) bag for 480 pesos
  • Jolly Guinea Pig Food – 1 kg for 185 pesos
  • American Pet Diner Grain Hay – 284g (10 ounces) for 350 pesos
Comparisons:
  • Hagen Guinea Pig Pellets –  Much cheaper than Bioresearch at SM North EDSA which was priced around 500 to 600 pesos. However, they’ve run out of stock as of February 4. I bought the last bag. I’m not sure when they will restock. Rabbit pellets are still available.
  • Jolly Guinea Pig Food –  This is also available at VIP Animal Hospital, 1kg for 165 pesos.
  • Grain Hay versus Grass Hay (timothy or alfalfa) – grain hay is a treat for guinea pigs. Buy grain hay only as a side dish for your piggies; don’t ever omit their staple grass hay (timothy or alfalfa).
Notes:

I’m really pleased with this shop because I can find my pets’ preferred food in here. I particularly love Hagen pellets for my guinea pig and Meow Mix for my cats; most cat kibbles make a cat’s poop smell so stinky, but Meow Mix’s Indoor Formula doesn’t do that.

I bought grain hay for my guinea pig so that I could use it to make toys and temporary nests for him. His staple food is still timothy hay and guinea pig pellets. Remember, if a hay’s strands can hurt your hands when you touch it, it will probably hurt your pet if it tries to eat it, so be careful when choosing hay. Also, small chewables such as grains and seeds can be choking hazards for small animals; guinea pigs do not have a gag reflex, if they choke, they’ll die of suffocation if humans do not intervene- so be careful when choosing pellet mixes.

Ask ko lang po sana if gaano po tumatagal yung mga binili niyong food sa guinea pig niyo? I’m planning to buy 2 females and gusto ko sana malaman magkano magagastos ko every month.

Important ung Vitamin C, kesa kapitan sila ng sipon, super gastos pag nagkasakit kasi exotic animals yan. Kung adult g-pig e bibigyan mo ng supplement na 1mL Ceelin per day, aabot ng one month ung maliit na bote ng syrup (60mL) for two guinea pigs, around 50 pesos lang un.

    Hi.

I find this post really informative.

I would like to take a look at this pet shop too, but would like to call them first to check if they have hay already. Do you happen to have their telephone number? (from the receipt, or where ever)

    Thanks!
